In the past year I've met several people who work at either local refineries or offshore rigs, and have on several occasions mentioned that I look into obtaining a process tech cert. and degree to become a plant operator. I've actually become quite serious about this and would appreciate any advice/info in this area. I guess I'm trying to figure out what all I can and have to do, to excel in this, not only as a female but as someone who is completely new to this. What specific skills/education are essential to become a successful plant operator in an oil refinery?
