Why do most fast food restaurants use lard instead of plant oils in their deep friers?

They don't. They use vegetable (usually peanut) oil and have for years (in some cases ';decades';).

Name a fast food chain that uses lard. Oh, and prove it.Why do most fast food restaurants use lard instead of plant oils in their deep friers?
In most restaurants they would rather use beef shortening than vegetable oil because of the flavoring.

Typically beef shortening has more flavor and gives things like fries a better taste. But because of the implications of trans-fats and religious issues plenty of restaurants are beginning to make the switch to vegetable shortening.

All McDonald's restaurants in Canada now fry all products in 100% transfat free 100% vegetable shortening. It has been a harder switch in the States because of the problem with the taste. Why do most fast food restaurants use lard instead of plant oils in their deep friers?
Lard is cheaper to use and easier to reuse/store. Too much will cause a build up in your arteries and veins.

Just look at it. You can look at butter the same way. Melt either and put it in the refridgerator to cool. The same thing happens in your body.
It is cheaper than plant oils. And no they don't care about long term health effects it has on consumers, all they care about is the amount of money they are making.
its cheaper to use and buy than vegetable or olive oil. Thats what they make soft serve cones out of aswell
because it's cheap.... the effect.... watch Supersize ME
